As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Today was Fabulous... Friday, January 29

I took today off of sparring.  I had stuff to do and had to race off out of town.  I was in a funk, been in a funk since Wednesday, and I really just wanted today to be over with.

However, today went nothing as planned.  Today was pretty fabulous!!!

In one day did I not only were my spirits totally be lifted up by a particular boxing coach/manager in the States but the whole issue with trying to fund all the medical bills with getting my Canadian pro license here got addressed and a possible answer was figured out by this same person.

I may be going to NY to fight.  That may be the answer to my problem!

I arrived in Whitby just as I got that phone call from the States so I greeted my dad with a huge hug and extra hug smile.  But that's not all that happened today.  Today was fantastic.  I also talked to my retired boxing manager friend and he said he'd consider coming out of retirement, so that was fantastic news.  Today, I also got my hair chopped and dyed, attended my high school teacher's retirement party, ran into some much-loved former teachers of mine, then got my name on the VIP guest list for tonight's live fights so I blazed it back to Toronto to attend them where I then ran into my former coach and numerous much respected champion boxers.

And to think I woke up wanting to sleep the day away because I was in a funk!

One day can really change your life.

I can't take all the credit. I definitely have some solid people looking out for me.  The fight in New York was thanks to a particular boxing manager in the States who currently manages 8 female pro fighters.  He had read my Facebook status and has followed me online so he reached out to me.  And as for the potential manger I want to get out of retirement, he's a trusted friend who I would absolutely be honoured if he became my manager.  At the fights tonight, I talked with him about my boxing situation as well as I also talked to my former Canadian coach and his cousin.  They all gave me much food for thought and I really appreciate that because I know they're in my corner and really have my best interest in mind.  And as for my hair salon friend, she's a magician with the scissors and hair dye so she worked her magic on my head and I absolutely love her work.
