As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Fueling the Body and Mind for Challenges

Food is fuel and lately I've been really focusing on what I fuel myself up with.
The better the fuel, the better my body can respond to the pressures and push of my training.
Laced up my boxing boots today and got in a solid 12 rounds on the heavy bag.
Sprint, shadow boxing, heavy bag rounds, and then weight training.
It totaled 1 hour and 48 minutes of hardcore determination and a lot of liquid awesomeness, also known as gym nastiness or sweat.
Was feeling exceptionally strong and healthy today.
I had an audition today for a short film about boxing and this is what I wore to it.
I received a lot of praise for my body when I took my sweater off and revealed to them the boxer body underneath.
Enter a weight-sensitive sport or even a pro sport and you'll learn just quickly people are to comment on your body.
I don't struggle with body issues anymore or a lack of confidence because my confidence comes from knowing how hard I can push myself in training, like with the weights and in sparring, but I am always striving to better myself.  It's important to push yourself, to grow and get better, but it's also important to respect and admire your body as it goes through the journey.  It's not just about the finish line because, well, if you're anything like me, there really is no finish line.  There is just another goal.
