As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

The Colourful Character of my Hood... Wednesday, February 24

Woke up today, stepped outside at 6:20am, and was greeted by a street flooded with police cruisers.  Over half my street was tapped off with police yellow tape and I counted 6 cop cars and one investigation paddy truck.  Double stabbing happened a hop, skip and a jump away from my apartment building's front door.  Scary stuff.

"This is definitely not Korea", I mumbled to myself.

It's moments like this that instant remind me that yes I am not in Korea anymore, I am in Toronto, and things are most definitely different this side of the globe.  Just yesterday a 14yr old high school girl walked into her school and attacked something like 8 people with a knife.

It's the random violence that scares me, not the targeted stuff, so that 14yr scares the hell out of me but I am ok with the double stabbing that blocked traffic and took over my street.  I'm not associated with trouble here in Canada like I was in Korea.  I don't train gang members here nor do I lend money to loan sharks and personal train working girls at their clubs.  My hands are clean here and the closest I get to anything illegal is j-walking.
