As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Putting in the Effort and Time... Thursday, March 24

9am -- Chiropractor appointment
When I first started going to the chiropractor I was coming here three times a week, a perk I got from a sponsor that I definitely couldn't afford on my own.  I never broad casted about it because they had sponsored me before I actually left my old club and join theirs.  I had become friends with management and they were genuinely concerned about the condition of my body once my sparring increased and so did my injuries, so they set me up with someone to help me.  I had an appointment today and now I'm only scheduled to go once a week.  It went from three times a week, to two, and now to one.  My hand is so much better and I'm so incredibly grateful that someone has been looking out for my best interest.  I'm an athlete, I get injured, it comes with the job.

Showed up at 9am, left at 9:20am.

1pm -- Boxing, Hardknocks Boxing Club
While hitting the heavy bag,  I watched as the former NCC Champ went a few rounds on a particular boxer and I felt intimidated.  I've been training with Coach Perez for a few weeks now and for a couple of weeks I've been training alongside the former NCC Champ.  Just recently they've added a 4th member to our crew that trains together, a young hopeful boxer who just recently moved to Canada from the States to pursue his dream of boxing.  He's younger than me, almost a foot taller than me, but he weighs pretty much the same as me.  I sparred with him the other day and joked that his arms were as long as my legs.  Today the Young American Pup stepped into the ring to spar and it was a blood bath.  I felt intimidated not because of the blood but because of the level of skill and self push they all brought to the ring.  They train hard, there's no joking about that, and it's pretty awesome to be back training beside other boxers who I think are beyond my skill.  The only way I'm going to get better is to surround myself with those who are better and that's exactly where I realize I now am.

Showed up at 1pm, left at 3:15pm.

7pm -- Strength and Conditioning, Clancy's Boxing
Coach Perez wants me to steer away from the traditional weight training I often lean on at System.  I've tried to incorporate a lot of combo exercises and calisthenics but he still argues I am packing on too much muscle and it's affecting my speed in the ring.  So today I decided to attend the Strength and Conditioning class at Clancy's.  It was an intense class and I particularly enjoyed it because the instructor did the class alongside us and the way that the class was set up you knew somewhat to expect.  You knew after this many sets of this and that exercise that there'd be a rest.  The thing that was so brutal about the class though was the instructor's love for burpess and mountain climbers... killer!!!  I made it through the class and got props from the instructor for choosing to work with heavier weights but then I was asked to sit in on the next class, the GJWB class -- Girls Just Want to Box class that's female-only.  I agreed but had misinterpreted "sitting in" as watching from like the spinning bike.  Nope, I was wrong.  I was then told to grab a skipping rope and join in.  Hour two for the night, back-to-back, and hour four of training today.

Showed up at 7pm, left at 9:40pm.
