As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

I Heart Cabbagetown... Monday, July 4

I officially have my pool side crew and they're fabulous.  A middle aged man and an older woman,  both actors and bothbsuper sweet.  They've lived in the area for years and know everyone in the area so it's nice to meet them and get more connected to this community.

Cabbagetown is definitely growing on me more and more,  as if I wasn't already a family already. I am one of Cabbagetown's newest but biggest fans. The area has some fabulous spots but it has it's not so fabulous spots too.   The street lined with cop cruisers was a bit disturbing to wake up to but being greeted with smiles and hellos at the pool made up for it.

The joke at the pool is talk of wanting to blow up one of the apartment buildings that blocks out the sun around 4:30pm everyday.  I thought it was but a simple joke said in passing but some have taken it a step further with telling known residents of that building they "can either take your kids or leave them there but that building is going down".  A bit harsh, yes, but it makes for quite the comical pool side chat among residents here.

Oh, and walking into the local community centre here,  that definitely was a wicked perk I discovered today.   They have this gorgeous community centre down the street from me that is buzzing with free drop in activities like ping pong and basketball.   I originally walked in to check out their facilities, a possible location for my company's boot camps, but walked out contemplating what day of the week I could host a free boot camp or get more involved.  I definitely see a lot of potential for me really getting involved here. The wheels in my brain were kicked into overtime with this today.

I returned to Clancy's for training tonight.  I haven't trained with Coach Rico there since before my Mexico fight.  I was apprehensive about coming back and not because I haven't been training hard because I have but because I'm still somewhat sensitive about my fight.  I knew I'd be the elephant in the room -- some would want to ask about my fight but wouldn't while others may.  No need to be so shy about it though,  as far as I look at it.  It is done and I know no matter what anyone says they can't rob me of it's one thing to talk about the fight, it's another thing to step into one. But my return was good.  It was great.  I walked in and my boy Fresh was so excited to see me. He stopped training, ran up to me and gave me hugs.
