As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Getting the Momentum Going Again

I've been home a lot lately, trying to deal with this food poisoning which means I've been having an extra dosage of Balboa and it's gotten to the point where I can no longer go in the bathroom without him pushing open the door to stare at me.

Shout out to this little guy, my faithful side kick, Mr. Balboa Button. He didn't leave my side when I was stuck in bed with food poisoning and today, when I bounced back and had errands to run, he remained by my side and went with me. He's so sweet but so exhausted now.

It was definitely me against myself today... my need to recover vs my stubbornness. First full day of being able to keep my food down, I'm not totally recovered, but I jumped at the first chance to wrap up my hands, lace up my boxing boots and get some boxing in. It's been 5 days since I've boxed and it was a rough first day back at training. Had a questionable moment when I thought I was going to be sick but I took a breather, resumed and got in a solid workout.
