As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Disrespected but Lesson Learned

Looking for my girl gang and hoping Mother Nature's downpour
didn't wash away their focus and drive.
Where are my ladies?!  They should be here!
My Empowered ladies were a no show. I wasn't impressed.

I got up at 6:30am so that I could be here by 8:30am, coaching at 9am. I stayed an hour, then I left.

Then the most random thing happened to me, a prostitute that I often run into around the boxing club and always asks me where I'm going, saw that I was frustrated and offered me a cup of coffee. I took it. I sat there on the curb with her, drinking coffee. It was that kind of weird morning that it only seemed fitting.
My morning BoxHIIT Camp, and lack there of it, really affected the rest of my day.  It was discouraging.  To have put so much effort into it and then to be so easily disregarded, with only one text messaging me right before class, I knew I had to put my foot down.  I had to use this as an opportunity to really set the tone and make clear my expectations for those I train.  So I wrote a letter and posted it online.... then I cuddled with Balboa.  Cuddles with him always cheer me up.

I should note that I don't actually take on all who ask me for 1-to-1 personal training.  I talk to them first and then decide whether or not I want to invest my time and energy into training them.  For my group sessions and camps, however, I do accept any and all females.
