So I ran into a situation at a most inconvenient time. I was at the boxing club, in a meeting, when I went to go show one of my Exclusive Slay gloves. I picked it up and immediately I noticed something was wrong.
The patch on the wrist had been sewn on upside down.
The patch is a rendition of the Filipino flag, the winning design of the patch design contest that I had launched via Empowered. I had sent detailed instructions to my supplier/manufacturer in Pakistan, noting the positioning of the patch and had noted to make sure it was done as such. You see, because it's a flag and an upside down Filipino flag means war. You could joke here and say that technically boxers do go and fight, are at war when in the ring, but the truth of the matter is, all jokes aside, this is a major technical error on my supplier's behalf.
I was ticked.
I was ticked, I was upset,... I was so disappointed I arrived home still unable to even say anything.
I was hoping that perhaps this was just a fluke incident, that that particular pair of gloves was the only one with the upside down flag. I sat on the end of my bed, looking at the pile of gloves before me, and hesitate with even looking at them.
High hopes but a big crash.
They were ALL wrong. All 12 pairs.
The delivery alone to send them back to Pakistan would be 14,000Php/$280Cdn, one way. And then of course there is the waiting time for them to get to Pakistan, be readjusted and then be resent to the Philippines. You'd be looking at easily another month. I don't have a month. They're already a couple of weeks later than anticipated with arriving here in the first place.
The struggle is real.
Just the other day someone, who will remain nameless, asked me if I'd make them a glove, as if it were nothing. I should note that the time, effort and money that's gone into making this glove has been crazy. I've been working on it since November, about 9 months. In that time I could have made a person so, yeah, these gloves, they're my babies. I'm not interested in making a new glove for someone because they clearly haven't the slightest idea of just how much goes into making them. Wow.
