As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Cutting and Weighing

Back to cutting weight... one last attempt, well, almost one last attempt.
It's official.  The other day I got approved for my Filipino boxing license and today it was handed to me.  I can't tell you how happy it makes me to be holding this little piece of plastic.
It represents a little piece liberation for me!
My opponent didn't make the official weigh-in of 107lbs; she came in at 108lbs.  This means it set the weight up, also meaning my 108 was perfect.  Weighed in at exactly 108lbs.  Nice.
Don't mind the awkward smile on me.  My lips were sticking to my teeth and I had the most extreme case of cotton mouth that I've ever had.  My opponent, on the other hand, she didn't seem the least bothered by the fight weight.  I think she actually put on weight.  Her last fight was at 104lbs.
After weigh-in comes refuelling.  I started with water mixed with petilyte, then my traditional Korean banana milk and Korean gingseng samgyetang -- chicken soup.
